Fish Oddities

We have a fish tank that sits in my boss' office.  I can see it through the plastic window in the cubicle and I have to say that fish are odd creatures.  They are both fancy goldfish which according to the dictionary is a form of Carp.  One is black (Charlie) with long beautiful fins, the other orange (Sam) with a strange head.

Here is the odd thing... Charlie likes to swim to the bottom of the tank, flip upside down and float to the top.  S/he does it several times during the day.  The first time I saw it, I freaked thinking my fish was dead...but just as I got close to the tank to get a better look, s/he flipped over and swam away.  I think this an odd thing for a fish to do.  It appears to be some kind of game s/he plays.  Sometime s/he just flips over and swims around upside down.  Is this normal?

Sam seems to be sane and only chases the bubbles around the top of the bowl and constantly begs for food.  I have not yet observed her/him doing the back stroke in the bowl.  If it starts to happen, I can only assume that it's the water treatment that we use and that they are slowing going insane.

Anyone out there with a backstroking fancy carp?

It's Been Awhile

It's been so long since I've been in this blog site I had to go through Jen just to get here because I couldn't remember how to do it.

For those who check in periodically (Jeannie)...Thanks.  How's married life treating you?

My boss is on a business trip back east (Whahoooooo) and I'm stuck here dealing with cranky customers.  They can be so needy....

Pet peeve -- when calling someone that you do not know, PLEASE identify yourself and your company before you start asking me for something.  I mean really!!  Next time someone calls and says "I need ______"   I'm just going to say "Okay" and then hang up.  A nice "Hi, this is Bob and I'd like to request a _______" would be really nice for a change.

I've also discovered that I do not speak "man."  I'm hoping to find a course that will teach me how to communicate so that they understand what I am saying.  I've explained to the owner on 4 different occasions that I do not handle sales, I'm A/R and A/P.  I don't set the price, I just bill it out.  Talk to the sales dept if you want the prices changed.  But I can't seem to get him to understand.  He is totally not getting what I'm saying.

Any ideas?????

50 Things that Make Me Happy

About a thousand years ago, Jeannie tagged me.  I had to go back and scroll through all her blogs to find what I was tagged with!  The last month has been incredibly hectic around here and since I don't have a computer at home, work is the only time when I can work on my blog.  For those faithful few, thanks for hanging in there.  I'll try to enter a little more than once a month.

Just a brief update.  That little accident I had last month that caused no damage to myself, my niece, or my truck....totaled the other vehicle.  It would cost more to fix it than it was worth.  Oh happy day.  They can't tell me how much my premiums are going to go up just yet.  They'll get back to me on that.  My niece now has a compulsion to ask "T, are we going to crash?"  everytime we get in the car together.

So back to the subject at hand, 50 things that make me happy.  Hummmmmmm

1.   The smell of fresh cut grass.

2.   Peppermint icecream

3.   Flannel sheets

4.   The feel of a puppies ears.  They're so soft!

5.  Good friends

6.  A good book

7.  Gardening

8.  A letter in the mail from a friend

9.  Time with my niece

10.  My cats

To be continued.....

And the Beat Goes On

The last couple of weeks have been a bit trying for me.  I returned from a wonderful week on vacation to a desk buried in paperwork.  I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to recoop but seem to be digging myself in deeper.  On top of that I had a horrible sinus infection that simply would not go away.  Tuesday I finally went back to the Dr. who gave me a Kenalog shot.  Wonderful stuff, I must say.  Not to get too graphic but it definitely loosens everything up and lets it flow.

I started housesitting again last week for Jackie Rose.  She's a sweet dog but it's kinda like staying at my grandmothers house.  Lots of breakables and don't touches.  And there is just something wrong about being away from home when you're not feeling 100%.

Then on Sunday, while on my way to Target with my niece, I rearended a woman.  Everyone was fine!  Thank God!!  No airbag deployment or anything spectacular.  I did manage to get the CHP, city police, Sheriff's dept, a fire truck and an ambulance to show up though.  My niece didn't even know we'd had an accident, I had to tell her.   When I got out of the car to check on the other driver, my niece says "T, you broke that ladies car."  And indeed. I had.

On Tuesday I picked her up to take her to school and my cute, addorable 3 year old niece says to me as she's climbing into the truck, "T, we're not  going to crash today, are we?  I'm getting my picture taken at school."

I guess that's just the way of it.  One more beat on the drum of life.  Hopefully, next week will be more of an up beat.

Up-Date

It is now Friday and I've found part of the top of my desk and am officially just my normal amount of behind.

We have not received any ransom requests on the bunnies and their wherabouts is still unknown.

Turns out the cops were not in pursuit of the bunny thieves but instead the thieves who were once again making off with the security system for the middle school across the street.

The crew that is making a parking lot at said school have been plowing now for 2 weeks straight.  Just how level does a parking lot need to be??

The vacation went well and I was able to paint the Master bedroom and bathroom a lovely shade of yellow.  Not that bright as the sun yellow I had before that almost blinded me when turning on the lights, this is more of a butter yellow and since Debbie Travis' "Accent Wall" was not working for me, I just painted right over the top of it.  Mom recovered the chest at the foot of the bed to a lovely golden color to match and now I have to keep it covered with a sheet because it shows every single hair the cats leave behind!

I am once again staying at Jackie Rose's house but I have strict instructions from the owners to PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COMPUTER.  Dare I remind you of the "WORM' incident from my last stay. Refer to May 11 publishing if you have forgotten.  I for one have not and apparently neither have JR's parents.

I'm just glad that it is now Friday and I have 2 days off.  Hopefully on Monday, my sinus infection will be completely gone and I'll be able to get everything caught up and in order again.  The chaos is starting to ware on me.

Vacation Backlash

This site is currently under extreme stress.  I finally went on vacation after 5 years.  Now I remember why I never go on vacation.  I have a weeks worth of work to do and basically 1 day to get it done in since it's the end of the month and there are reports that must be filed.

I will return with something to say soon and to answer Jeannie's tag.

Happy Halloween everyone!!!

No sign of the bunny thieves as of yet.    Oooh I wonder if that's who the police were chasing the other night with a helicopter and dogs?!?!

Poop Suckers

Have you ever gone completely blank while talking to someone??  It happens to me from time to time but usually I can conceal it by saying that something caught my eye or I was trying to listen to someone that was talking to me at the same time. Unfortunately, there was no excuse big enough to cover my blunder of the other day.

We have a problem with our septic lines at the facility where I work and have to have them cleaned periodically.  Most people have their septic tanks pumped every 15 - 20 years.  We have our cleaned every 2 or 3 months.  Normally the office mom takes care of this little problem and I never have to deal with it; however, we allow her to take days off from time to time and it was one of these times that I became tongue tied.

The processing area called and said that the septic tanks were backing up and needed to be cleaned.  Oh Lord, who do we call for that?!?!  Where's her rolodex?  What would that be filed under?  Septic Tanks?  The name of the Company?  It starts with a "D," I think... Finally.

I dial the number and just when the gal answers the phone I become Jessica Simpson.  We're talking vast open space up there and all I could think of was what they were going to be doing and blurted out "Are you the people that suck the poop?"  The line went dead and then "Um, yes, we are a waste pumping serive."  WASTE PUMPING!!! That's it, that's what I need.  Okay, well we need you to pump the waste that backing up around here.  I'm glad she had a sense of humor.

To this day, D's Pumping Service is affectionatly known as the Poop Suckers and I get my brain and mouth on the same wave length before picking up the phone.
